Auckland Art Gallery Trip

Have you been to the Auckland Art Gallery before? Last Week at Friday class 9, class 10 and some of the year 5’s in Mrs Jacobson's class went to the Auckland Art Gallery. We went to the Art Gallery by bus and when we were nearly there I saw big buildings and other ones.

The bus was at the art gallery so we have to wait then we entered. There was
a lady and other ones that introduced us. Her name was Mandy. When we entered we had to break up in groups. I was in Miss Lavakula’s group and other parent helpers.

My group was the first one to go in. The first room we had to go to was the studio. When I went in I saw water paint, pencils, markers and colours. After that we had to sit down in a chair because we are going to tell a story using pictures. We had to draw a picture that we went to in the weekends. So I drew a wedding dress and then Mandy came around and guessed my drawing she said I went to the wedding.

After that we went out of the studio then we had morning tea. When we finished our morning tea my group went up stairs to the lego. I sat down and made a wall. It was soo cool that  I wondered who did the heart one and the names. It was 12.30 so we went and had our lunch outside. I had shared lunch with my friends. Lunch was finished so we moved onto our next activity.

I felt happy that we went to the Auckland Art gallery because it was my second time there. I had the most happiest day in my life.

Guy Fawkes

Do you know what Guy Fawkes is? Guy Fawkes is fireworks when each houses gets bombs and other stuff. Guy Fawkes is also known as Guido Fawkes, the name he adopted while he was fighting Spanish people in the low countries. He was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder plot of 1605.

Fawkes was born and educated in York. His father died when he was eight years old, after which his mother married a recusant catholic. Fawkes later converted to Catholicism and left for the continent, where he fought in the Eighty Years War on the side of catholic Spain against Protestant Dutch reformers.

Guy Fawkes Night is annually held on November 5. It is sometimes known as Bonfire Night and marks the anniversary of the discovery of a plot organized by Catholic conspirators to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many people light bonfires and set off fireworks.

How to be a Successful Point England Student

Do you know how to be a successful Point Englander student? I am going to explain to you why and how to be a successful Point England student. Being a successful student is important to people. It is good to use it wherever you are.

Trying your best- Trying your best means when there is something you can’t handle or can’t do you just have to try your best. For example if the teacher says go and work on your maths and the person thinks they can’t do it he thinks again that he could try his best. Trying your best also means giving 100 percent in everything you do and not giving up.

Using your manners- At school people always use their manners when they are with the teacher or some where else. For example if someone needs a rubber they can just ask like this, May I please use your rubber for a minute.

Ignoring- Ignore means when somebody says something mean to you, you just ignore it or talk about it. For example if you walk past someone and they swear to you just ignore or tell the teacher on duty. It is important to ignore because if you don’t it will might start a fight.

Conclusion: Strive to succeed

Our school has a song called strive to succeed and I will write it but a little bit. The world is waiting for us to show the seed thats in our soul success is growing deep within our faith has made us bold. That song was written by Mr Jacobson but he is a tall man.

Use my Brain, Use my Heart, I’m going to be cyber smart.  Have you ever heard of these special words before? Those special  words are one of our school korero words. I’m going to explain to you what this means in our school.

Use my brain: Use my brain helps me to think about what I say and do to others first. It means thinking ahead. Here is a good example if you have a chain email or a doggy mail screenshot it and send it to the teacher.

Use my heart: When I think about using my heart that means I should do my best at everything that I do.I need to give 100 percent on what I do

Cross Country 2014

Here is my paragraph that I wrote about cross country 2014.

Last Thursday we had cross country in our school. It was outside the court and the field. It was the 11 of September 2014.It was a beautiful day because the sun came out. At Cross Country there were lots of people there. My dad came to watch me and my sister running at the cross country. There were house names and their colours.I am in Mataatua house and we are green.Mr Burt was the starter of the day

When Mr Burt called out the year five girls I was excited and nervous at the same time. When I run, I know my dad is going to be proud of me. He reminded us to run around the cones. There were teachers on our way. When Mr Burt said ‘’ON YOUR MARKS SET GO’’! all of us ran.My dad and my sister were standing on the grass cheering for me. ‘’GO LOSELI’’! my sister yelled.I felt proud and strong to run as fast as I can. When I heard my dad’s voice it made me run faster

Along the way I was feeling very tired.I thought to myself I needed some water to drink. My dad gave me a bottle of water.I drank half of the water then I kept running to the end of the finished line. There were many people in front of me.My goal for cross country is to run without stopping.I was happy to finish the race.

I'm so thankful that cross country is only once a year.”Keep running and don't stop” I told myself. Mud squelched under my feet as I ran through the reserve. Do you know why objects float or why objects sink? I am going to explain three reasons what floating means

Floating:Floating is when an object is floating above the surface. If an object gets put in the liquid and it floats the liquid goes to the sides and it displaces the water. Floating is buoyancy. It means its has the ability to float and stay above the surface. Some objects float because it has air in it.

Sinking:Sinking means is an object is under the surface that is solid or heavy like a rock.If you put a rock into a bottle of liquid it pushes the rock downwards so it will not come up again.Gravity is the force that pulls objects downwards towards the centre of the earth.
